Torbay HER record (SMR record). SDV361984.

The manor of Briseham was centred on Higher Brixham. Held by Ulf in 1066; it was held in 1086 by Judhael of Totnes when it paid tax for 2 1/2 hides. There was land for 10 ploughs; 2 ploughs were held in lordship where 12 slaves work 1/2 hide. 15 villagers and 12 smallholders with 8 ploughs work 2 hides. Meadow 4 acres; pasture 12 acres; woodland, 12 acres; 2 cobs; 4 cattle; 10 pigs; '200 sheep, less 200'. Formerly worth £3 now worth £4. [1][2]

The Manor of Brixham came into the possession of the Seyntclere family, for a short time in the 16th century (4).
