Full description
Torbay HER record (SMR record). SDV361984.
The field pattern, representing the demesne land of the manor granted to John Ridgeway in 1540 as part of the dispersal of Torre Abbey land on its dissolution, (some still enclosed by boundary banks - adjacent to west side of Torbay Hospital) coincides with fields shown on the Tithe map of 1838 and persists in places to this day, having existed unaltered for centuries.
