Full description
Torbay HER record (SMR record). SDV361984.
The field pattern representing the demesne land gifted by William Brewer the Younger between 1226 and 1232 to Torre Abbey and not passing to John Ridgeway in 1540, (some still enclosed by boundary banks coincides with fields shown on the Tithe map of 1838) persists in places to this day, having existed unaltered for centuries. Discussed in detail in Walker[1][2]
