Full description
Torbay HER record (SMR record). SDV361984.
The earliest documented house on the site is of 16th century date; it appears under the name of Hill House on the plan of the Manor of Brixham surveyed by Joseph Whitely in 1743 (DRO 59/7/3/6) (reproduced in Humphreys). The stwo storeyed building is of rendered stone rubble with a gable ended tiled roof. The chimneys are of stone rubble and brick. It appears to be a passage type house with the north part of the building forming Hill Cottage but underwent alterations in the eighteenth century and later. The depiction on the First Edition OS 1:2500 shows a larger footprint than the present one. [1] The medieval documents found on site do not relate to this property. List description at [2].
