Full description

Torbay HER record (SMR record). SDV361984.

Early farmhouse of plastered cob and thatch, 16C in origin with late 16C/ early 17C and c.1730 alterations and linhay at rear. Originally a 3-room and through passage open hall house. The Hall was floored late 16C/early 17C; a parlour with rear corner fireplace inserted at opposite end c. 1730 and this end re-roofed. [1] Internal alterations in late 20C.

Limited Archaeological Recording in late 2002 was undertaken at the south-east end of the kitchen, over a floor area of area c.3.5m x 4.5m, pottery recovered indicates the surface to be 19th or even early 20th century date. Map evidence suggest that the kitchen was extended to the rear,taking over part of an earlier outbuilding between 1840-1890.
