Full description
Torbay HER record (SMR record). SDV361984.
Ellis, citing White (1878), notes that as late as 1850 an iron mine was being being worked at Torre Between the Old Hospital (Torbay Infirmary and Dispensary) and the first house in 'Higher Union Street'. No regular lode was discovered but quantities of ore which was a rich carbonate of Iron. [1]
The site was identified in1983 as within the area of the footprint of the Bowling Alley' in Union Street [2]
