Full description

Torbay HER record (SMR record). SDV361984.

Imported from Torbay HER

1775, The Manor of St Marychurch (Plan - measured). SDV362321.

The 'Lyme Kiln' is recorded on the Cary manorial map of St Marychurch of 1775, though it ignores the quarries it must have served. On the first edition 1861 OS County Series survey the kiln is recorded as "Old limekiln", where it is located adjacent to the most northerly quarry (SX96NW/126). It is still present on the 1902 OS under the same name, but has vanished 1933.
