A 'probable' substantial lynchet was observed by P McCrone in May 1996 on the long E-W boundary of a field in Maidencombe - definitive identification being rendered impossible by the heavy scrub present. The field has almost the same boundaries as it had in 1861 when it was surveyed by the OS for the First Edition County Series; however, unlike SX96NW/131, the field appears to have been enclosed in the late 18th century.
