Full description
Torbay HER record (SMR record). SDV361984.
Imported from Torbay HER
1775, The Manor of St Marychurch (Plan - measured). SDV362321.
Daison Farm is present on the first edition OS County Series surveyed in 1861-2, as a series of three separate groups of buildings spread over 1.7 acres, evidently an established farm complex by then. It is not present on the Cary estate map of the Manor of St Marychurch of c.1775, though a small building shown between plots 37 and 38 is present near the site of the later farm. Elsewhere the footprint of the farm complex and adjacent fields to the south and west, north of Chatto Road, appear as simply part of "Daison Common". The farm is still present on the 1904 edition OS, but had been removed by the 1933 re-survey. Only this farm building, originally designed as two semi-attached units, survives; it is now split into 1, 2, & 3 Daison Farm Cottages; the grounds and boundaries much as they were in 1861.
