The former post office is divided into two parts: the earlier is the 3-storey seven-bayed building to south (right-hand) built 1912 in Edwardian Baroque style by John Rutherford along an 80'/24.5m frontage. The later building is the larger 4-storey eight-bayed extension to the north of 1933-35. Internal remodellings were undertaken in 1961 and 1984. With this last there was a wholesale and disastrous replacement of the original timber sash windows by uPVC. The 1933 buildings was converted to Tesco Metro 2004. The 1912 ceased to function as a public post office in 2009.

Listed 16 August 1986 and situated in Torquay Harbour Conservation Area. [1]

A conservation plan was prepared by Mewes & Davis Architects in February 2003 [2]
