Summary

Bowl Barrow 580 metres north-west of Gorvin, forming part of a group. The barrow is clearly visible as a circular earthwork mound on aerial photographs dating to 1978.

Visited 5th April 1969. Bowl barrow north-west of Gorvin. Diameter 25 paces, height 2 feet 3 inches.

Two circular earthwork mounds are visible.

Visited 5th September 1996. Spread and levelled barrow. Adjacent modern track on Ordnance Survey maps no longer extant. Dimensions roughly those recorded in 1978 but probably slightly lower. Under pasture. Forms part of aligned group with SS21NE/501, 507, 508, 509 .

Bowl barrow forming part of a goup. Survives as a slightly oval mound measuring 26.1 metres east-west, 24.2 metres north-south and 0.6 metres high. Surrounding ditch survives as a buried feature, approximately 4 metres wide.

The barrow is visible as a circular earthwork mound on aerial photographs dating to 1978, but it is not definitely visible on any other aerial photographs available to the survey. The photograph was very difficult to rectify so the location is approximate and the existing HBSMR polygon, which is based on the base mapping, has not been altered.
