1980, Western Morning News (Article in Serial). SDV362070.

A Henry III silver long cross penny, without a sceptre, was found in Cockington Park near the Drum Inn by Brian Read with a metal detector on the 22 January 1980. The park being owned by the then Torbay Borough Council claimed ownership and/or any profit in the event of a sale. The coroner awarded the coin - dated 1248-50 - to the finder.
