In the courtyard of the ancient Manor house at Blagdon Barton, standing at the foot of a wall on the east side, is a large socket stone, which has been hollowed out to form a trough. It is made of granite. It is square at the base and octagonal above with ribbed corner shoulders. The basin has obliterated any trace of the original socket. The basin has a diameter of 81.3 cm. The stone is 96.5 cm long, 96.5 cm wide and 45.7 cm high
