Full description
Torbay HER record (SMR record). SDV361984.
Imported from Torbay HER
Fox, A., 1963, Transactions of the Devonshire Association, p.84 (Article in Serial). SDV362524.
At Watcombe 3 4th century Roman bronze coins of Maximian (post-305 from the mint of Aquileia); Constantine I 326-30; and Constantine II (as Caesar 330-5 from the mint of Constantinople) were found by a boy from Westhill School in soil at the base of a sandstone tower near King George V playing fields. All three coins had been coated with lacquer, and are thus not necessarily local finds. The identifications were made at the British Museum.
