Full description
Torbay HER record (SMR record). SDV361984.
Imported from Torbay HER
Evans, J., 1872, Ancient Stone Implements, pp.450-3; figs 390, 393-4 (Monograph). SDV362712.
Southwest Chamber North.
Near the north wall three implements were found in the cave earth:
The first, found in the first foot level, probably a scraper was of a dull light grey colour externally, black within. Trapezoid in form - almost a rectangle - with the corners rounded off it was worked to an edge along its entire margin it was found with animal teeth and bones.
The second was a white flint implement found in the first foot level from a point near the centre of the other face; rudely sub-ovoid and flat on one face, and unequally fined off to an edge all round its perimeter.
The third, also found in the first foot level, was similar to the second: long, narrow, pointed, nearly symmetrical semi-ellipsoid and elaborately chipped everywhere; it was flat on one face and uniformly rounded on the other and found with hyena, fox and bear teeth.
Pengelly, W., 1884, Transactions of the Devonshire Association, p.252-3 (Article in Serial). SDV362708.
