Oval and irregularly shaped mounds and pits and a linear ditch are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1946 and 1964, at Newbridge Clay Works, Kingsteignton. Given the uncertain nature of some of the visible earthworks, an extent of area polygon has been used to define their approximate limit. The earthworks do not correspond with any features shown in this location on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map, or later available historic maps, supporting the interpretation they had passed out of use by this time. They are interpreted as the extractive pits, spoil heaps and possible drainage/water channel of a medieval or post-medieval clay or tin extraction site which has been destroyed by Newbridge Clay Works by 1983.
