An extractive pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs taken in the 1940s and 1950s. It may have been an earlier phase of extraction associated with Pitleigh Quarry immediately to the south. This plot is recorded as under arable cultivation in the mid-19th century tithe maps, indicating that the pit fell out of use by this time. Road building in the north of this plot appears to have resulted in all the earthworks being destroyed or levelled.
