Parallel earthwork ridges, circa 6m wide, are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1948 and 1988, to the west of Dunley Plantation, Hennock. The visible banks are closely spaced and are broadly aligned parallel to the contours of the gentle southeast facing combe slope, occupying an area of approximately 0.83 hectares. The banks coincide with an orchard depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25-inch map and remains moderately planted in 1948. The presence of an orchard in this location supports the interpretation the earthworks represent possible 19th century tree planting banks, the fruit trees being established on the earthworks for increased soil depth and improved drainage. The plot has been completely cleared of trees on aerial photographs taken in 1988.
