Bluesky International Ltd/Getmapping PLC, 2015-2017, 2015-2017 Aerial Photographs, Devon County Council 2010 Aerial Photograph mosaic (Aerial Photograph). SDV361462.

The linear banks are obscured from view by dense tree cover.

Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (Interpretation). SDV361305.

Parallel earthwork ridges were visible under light tree cover on aerial photographs of 1946, on the south-east facing slopes south of New House Farm, Mamhead. The closely spaced banks are on average 5 metres wide and are aligned obliquely cross-contour. They are interpreted as banks made to enhance drainage and provide additional depth of soil within an orchard.
The plot in which the banks are visible is depicted as an orchard on the Tithe Map for Ascombe (Plot 354, Charlwood Orchard). The banks were therefore probably created prior to circa 1840. The banks are obscured from view by dense vegetation on images derived from aerial photographs of 2015-17 but probably survive as earthworks.
