A shallow ditch circa 4m wide and 87m long is visible on aerial photographs of 1946 as an earthwork on the south-west facing slope north of The Coach House, Ashcombe. The visible earthwork does not correspond with any boundaries depicted on the 19th century maps available to the survey but is in keeping with the character of the surrounding field pattern, that has been characterised as derived from strip fields of medieval date.
The earthwork is interpreted as evidence of a former field boundary of probable medieval date. It was not identified on more recent images available to the survey and has probably been levelled.
