Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (Interpretation). SDV361305.

A shallow curvilinear ditch up to circa 12m wide and almost 100m long is visible as an earthwork on the north-west-facing slopes west of the Coach House, Ashcombe on aerial photographs of 1946.
The visible earthwork does not correspond with any boundaries depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25inch map of circa 1880 but is in keeping with the character of the surrounding field pattern, characterised by HLC as medieval enclosure.
No boundaries are depicted within Plot 440 on the Tithe Map for Ashcombe, which is annotated as Glebe land. This might support the interpretation that the boundaries, including the relict boundary, post-date circa 1840. Alternatively, the boundaries, including the relict boundary may be of medieval origin, and not depicted on the Tithe Map due to the Glebe status of the plot.
The earthwork not identified on more recent images available to the survey and has probably been levelled.
