Irregular earthwork mounds and pits are visible on aerial photographs taken from 1946 and on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 on slopes below Pullabrook. Given that in form they have some resemblance to tin streaming works in the area, they are interpreted as the remains of medieval or post-medieval extractive pits, stream channels and spoil heaps. The plot is described as ‘timber and copse’ on the tithe apportionment, and depicted as rough ground on the late-19th century mapping, so extractive activity here is likely to have ceased before the mid-19th century, and the uneven ground utilised for timber rather than tackled with a plough.
