'Smithy' marked on Ordnance Survey maps. Note that position appears to change adjacent buildings from the 1888 first edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey map to the 1904 revision.

Waterhouse, R., 2021, Thorncliffe Works, Bishops Tawton, Devon. Historic Building Recording (Report - Survey). SDV366229.

A smithy and associated cottage were built in the 1850s by the Thomas family. They were demolished in 1895 to build Thorncliffe Works. Traces of the earlier structures relating to the original smithy were recorded during a programme of historic building undertaken at the works prior to conversion to residential use. These included a a short-lived two storey workshop to the north of the project site and a possible domestic building at the eastern end.
