Parallel earthwork ridges up to circa 10 metres wide were visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, crossing the contours of the east-facing slopes.
The visible earthworks resemble features typically interpreted as made to enhance drainage and provide additional depth of soil within an orchard, from the post-medieval period to late-19th century.
The banks are adjacent to an earthwork platform interpreted as possible evidence of a former settlement or farmstead, with which the possible orchard was probably associated. Both are located within parkland associated with Luscombe Castle, built circa 1800, and are therefore probably post-medieval period to 18th century in date, possibly cleared for Luscombe Park.
