Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (Interpretation). SDV361305.

Parallel earthwork ridges on average 4 metres wide were visible under light tree cover on aerial photographs of 1946, crossing the contours of the south-east facing slopes.
The plot in which the banks are visible is depicted as an orchard on the Tithe Map for Dawlish (Plot 1601, Back Orchard). The banks were therefore probably created prior to circa 1840. Such banks are typically interpreted as made to enhance drainage and provide additional depth of soil within an orchard. The orchard had been cleared of trees from by 1960. The were not identifiable as earthworks on more recent images available to the survey.
