The visible earthwork corresponds with a field boundary depicted on the Tithe Map for Bishopsteignton but not the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25inch map. The relict ditch is interpreted as the remains of a former field boundary potentially of medieval to post-medieval date, that was removed between circa 1840 and 1880.
