The visible earthworks correspond closely with pits depicted on the OS Fourth Edition 25inch map.

Two or three pits are visible as earthworks on the north-facing slopes south-west of Teignmouth Golf Club club-house. A linear hollow circa 2 to 3m wide and 90m long is visible extending north-west from the pits.
The visible earthworks correspond with small extractive pits depicted on the Fourth Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch Map but not earlier editions. The pits are therefore interpreted as extractive pits, possibly sandstone quarries, of early to mid-20th century date.
The pits remain depicted on the Ordnance Survey MasterMap layer.

Ordnance Survey, 2019, MasterMap 2019 (Cartographic). SDV362729.

The pits remain depicted on the OS MasterMap layer.
