The visible earthwork corresponds with a gravel pit depicted on the OS 1880s First Edition 25inch map.

Extractive pit of probable late 19th century date. The pit remains visible as an earthwork under grass within Teignmouth Golf Club on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2015 and is depicted on Ordnance Survey MasterMap.
The pit was not transcribed as part of the survey.
