Full description

South West Heritage Trust, 1838-1848, Digitised Tithe Maps and Transcribed Apportionments (Cartographic). SDV359954.

The visible cropmark corresponds partly with a field boundary depicted on the Tithe map for Bishopsteignton

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

The visible cropmark does not correspond with a boundary depicted on the OS 1880s First Edition 25inch map, but does partly follow a tree alignment.

Ordnance Survey, 1985, OS/85063, OS/85063 V 002 29-MAY-1985 (Aerial Photograph). SDV352506.

A linear cropmark of a ditch is visible.

Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (AI&M) (Interpretation). SDV361305.

A cropmark of a ditch circa 2 to 5m wide and 220m long is visible on aerial photographs of 1985 crossing the contours of the south-east facing slope to the south-east of Teign View Farm, Bishopsteignton.
The visible cropmark corresponds in part with a field boundary depicted on the Tithe Map for Bishopsteignton and a tree alignment depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25inch First5 Edition map. The cropmark is in keeping with the character of the surrounding field pattern, which has been characterised as medieval enclosure. It is therefore interpreted as evidence of a former field boundary of probable medieval origin that had been partly cleared prior to circa 1840, and completely removed by circa 1880.
