A ditched bank is visible s an earthwork circa 3m wider and 55m long on aerial photographs of 1946 and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, on the north-east facing combe slopes north-west of Southwood Farm, Dawlish.
The visible earthworks do not correspond with any boundary depicted on the Tithe map for Dawlish, but are on the same orientation as, and closely resemble the remains of, a field boundary to the south-east, depicted on the Tithe Map and extant on aerial photographs of 1946. The relict earthworks are interpreted as the remains of a field boundary of probable medieval origin, possibly the continuation of a boundary to the south-east, that was removed prior to circa 1840
