Hitchings, T., 2014, Poltimore Estate Heritage Sites, S160 (Un-published). SDV361001.

Site of 'First' Lodge. It is possible that this is the second rather than the first lodge. However, it is used here to distinguish it from Old Lodge and New Lodge that are both more recent. This Lodge appears on the tithe plan of 1838 and appears to have been constructed when the park was extended down to the Bargain Lane at some time between 1801 and 1838. It became redundant with the construction of the eastern bypass and was demolished circa 1840.
