A series of linear and parallel banks, between 5m to 15m wide and typically northeast to southwest and northwest to southeast aligned, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken from 1946 onwards and on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. The earthworks partly correspond with field boundaries shown in this location on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map and are in keeping with the historic field pattern depicted on this map, which is characterised as medieval enclosures based on strip fields. The nature of the earthworks and their alignment on the south and southwest facing combe slopes supports the interpretation they are the remains of strip lynchets and field boundaries of medieval date, with some elements (such as the north to south aligned bank which corresponds with a field boundary on the Tithe Map) possibly of later origin.
