Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (AI&M) (Interpretation). SDV361305.

Parallel earthwork banks, circa 4m wide, are visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. The visible banks are closely spaced and are broadly aligned parallel to the contours of the north facing combe slope, occupying an area of approximately 0.68 hectares. The banks coincide with an orchard depicted in this location on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map. An orchard in this location supports the interpretation that the earthworks are the remains of 19th century tree planting banks, the fruit trees having been established on the earthworks for increased soil depth and improved drainage. The orchard is moderately covered in trees on aerial photographs taken in 1946, although these had been completely cleared by 1986.
