Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (Interpretation). SDV361305.

Parallel earthwork banks, circa 5m wide, are visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. The closely spaced banks are cross-aligned to the northwest to southeast and northeast to southwest and occupy an area of approximately 0.58 hectares of northwest and west facing slope. The banks coincide with two adjacent orchards shown on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map. The presence of these orchards supports the interpretation the earthworks represent possible 19th century tree planting banks, the fruit trees being established on the earthworks for increased soil depth and improved drainage. The plots are part covered in trees on aerial imagery taken between 1946-1949, although have been almost completely cleared by 1999-2000.
