Parallel earthwork banks, circa 5m wide, are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946 and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. The visible banks are closely spaced and are aligned across the contours of the gentle east facing combe slope, occupying an area of approximately 0.67 hectares. The banks coincide with an orchard shown in this location on the Ordnance Survey First Edition map of the late 19th century which has been dissected by the Torquay and Dartmouth Branch railway line, constructed during the mid-19th century. The presence of an orchard in this location supports the interpretation the earthworks represent possible post-medieval or 19th century tree planting banks, the fruit trees being established on the earthworks for increased soil depth and improved drainage. The eastern half of the orchard has been completely cleared of trees by 1946, although the western half of the orchard is heavily planted. These have been largely cleared by 1999.
