A pit is depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25in map and labelled as Old Quarry. The pit is visible as an overgrown earthwork on aerial photographs of 1946. A pit approximately 45m by 40m remains visible as an earthwork on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 and is depicted on the OS MasterMap layer. Digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2015 indicate that the pit is being used for farm-scale storage and dumping.
The pit corresponds with a small area of limestone geology and was probably a limestone quarry, associated with a lime kiln immediately to the south-east (MDV14730). The pit was not transcribed by the survey.
