The earthwork does not correspond with any pit features in this location which is shown as woodland bisected by a track.

An irregularly shaped pit, circa 28m long by 20m wide, is visible as an earthwork on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. The visible earthwork does not correspond with any pit features depicted in this location on the late 19th century Ordnance Survey First Edition map, although does coincide with an area of woodland bisected by a track. The earthwork is interpreted as a possible post-medieval or early to mid-19th century extractive pit or quarry which predates the woodland and trackway shown in this location in the late 19th century. It is not visible on other available aerial imagery owing to thick tree cover.
