Parallel earthwork banks, circa 4m wide, are visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. The visible banks are closely spaced and are aligned across the contours of the southeast facing combe slope, occupying an area of approximately 0.13 hectares. The banks coincide with land parcel 37 on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map and recorded as ‘Orchard’ on the accompanying Tithe Apportionment. The presence of an orchard in this location supports the interpretation the earthworks represent possible 19th century tree planting banks, the fruit trees being established on the earthworks for increased soil depth and improved drainage. An additional northeast to southwest aligned bank to the north may be associated with this orchard. The orchard remains moderately covered with trees in 1947, although these have been completely cleared by 1999-2000.
