The plots are sparsely planted.

Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (AI&M) (Interpretation). SDV361305.

Parallel ridges were visible as roughly east-west aligned earthworks under light tree cover on aerial photographs of 1946. The closely spaced banks are on average 7 metres wide and are aligned across the gentle north and north-west facing slopes. They are interpreted as banks made to enhance drainage and provide additional depth of soil within an orchard.
The plots in which the banks are visible are depicted as orchards on the Tithe Map for Combeinteignhead and listed as Plot 339, Hams Orchard Plot, and Plot 341, Westborough Orchard and Cellar on the Tithe Apportionment. They remain depicted as orchards on the Ordnance Survey 25-inch first edition map. The banks were therefore probably created prior to circa 1840.
The plot remains lightly planted with trees on images derived from aerial photographs of 2015 and the banks remain visible as subtle earthworks on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017.
