Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

The visible earthworks do not correspond with any pit depicted on the OS 1880s First Edition 25inch map.

A pit is visible as an earthwork.

A pit circa 50 by 30m in size is visible as an earthwork on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 abutting the north-east edge of the avenue to Whitehill House.
The visible earthwork does not correspond with any pit depicted 19th century maps available to the survey which might support the interpretation it had passed out of use by the early-19th century.
