An earthwork pit circa 8m in diameter is visible on aerial photographs of 1946 as an earthwork at Newton Abbot Racecourse. The pit is interpreted as a bomb crater of Second World War date. The earthwork is not visible on more recent images available to the survey and has probably been levelled.
