A quarry of probable 19th century date is depicted on maps from Ordnance Survey 25 inch First Edition map, and annotated Knowles Quarry. The Tithe Apportionment for Highweek lists plot 705 as Quarry Park, supporting the interpretation that the extractive activity predated circa 1840. The pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1940s onwards, and despite encroaching development, a house has been built within the access track, remains visible on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. The earthwork was not transcribed by the survey.
