The visible earthworks do not correspond with any pits depicted on the Tithe map for East Ogwell.

Several irregularly shaped pits, between 5m and 20m across, are visible on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 as earthworks under the tree cover of Lang’s Copse, Ogwell. The pits are visible descending the north-facing slopes overlooking the combe of the River Lemon, concentrated around an area of Limestone geology, and are therefore interpreted as probable limestone quarries. The visible earthworks do not correspond with any pits depicted or referenced in field name evidence on the 19th-century maps available to the survey, and therefore probably predate the mid-19th century.
