The pit remains obscured by dense tree cover.

Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (Interpretation). SDV361305.

An oval pit circa 45 by 15m in size is visible as an earthwork on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. The visible earthwork does not correspond with any pit depicted 19th century maps available to the survey but does match a small group of trees depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25inch map. This might support the interpretation that the pit had passed out of use by the early-19th century. A former gravel pit is depicted circa 70m to the south-east and a similar function might be interpreted for the pit recorded here, possibly associated with road building.
