Linear and curvilinear ditches which form part of a single earthwork feature, northeast to southwest aligned and circa 640m in length, are visible on aerial photographs taken from 1945 onwards and on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. The earthworks extend southwards from Great Orcheton Farm and follow the course of Ayleston Brook located to the southeast. The earthworks do not correspond with any linear or curvilinear features shown in this location on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map, or on later available historic maps. They are interpreted as a possible post-medieval or early 19th century leat which had passed out of use by the mid-19th century.
