Dark, linear cropmarks interpreted as having formed over levelled ditches, circa 2m wide and northwest to southeast and northeast tot southwest aligned, are visible on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2018. The cropmarks partly correspond with field boundaries shown on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map and they are in keeping with the historic field pattern depicted in this location which is characterised as Barton Fields laid out between the 15th to 18th centuries. The cropmarks are therefore interpreted as relict field boundaries of post-medieval date which had partly fallen out of use by the mid-19th century. The cropmarks are not visible on other available aerial imagery.
