Linear earthwork banks, circa 16m wide and northeast to southwest aligned, are visible on visualisations derived from lidar date captured between 1998 and 2017. The earthworks do not correspond with any linear features on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map, or on later available historic maps, nor are they in keeping with the historic field pattern depicted in this location. The earthworks possibly form part of a medieval or post-medieval road or trackway which connected the road to the north at Wrescombe with the B3186 to the south. Any possible routeway here had evidently passed out of use by the mid-19th century and as such may pre-date the existing road located circa 100m to the east at Collaton Cross. Alternatively, the earthworks may be the result of modern service trenching or drainage works.
