A circular pit, circa 14m diameter, with two slight curvilinear earthwork banks to the north and south, circa 1m wide, are visible on aerial photographs taken from 1945 onwards. The earthworks are situated circa 100m west of the Second World War barrage balloon site of RAF Collaton Cross (MDV51747). Collaton Cross was bombed in November 1940 which supports the interpretation that these earthworks represent a bomb crater. The banks associated with the crater were levelled and the pit partly infilled during the post-war period, although the pit remains visible as a slight earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017.
