Summary
A hut circle of probable Bronze Age date is recorded from field investigation and aerial survey as a roughly circular hollow or terrace enclosed by an earthwork bank. It is one of two incorporated into the perimeter of a hut circle settlement enclosure on the north-facing slopes of Shaugh Moor. The hut circle is clearly identifiable as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1946 and digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2016.

A circular bank is identifiable as an earthwork.

(Visited 03/12/1997) SX55816343. A hut circle situated on a level stance is the angle of two. It measures 7.6 metres north-south by 6.5 metres with a level interior up to 4.1 metres across. It has a 0.7 metres high back scarp and a pronounced 0.8 metres high front scarp. The rather tumbled boulder/stone wall is a maximum 0.5 metres high. The entrance was possibly in the south-east quadrant.

A bank on average circa 2.5m wide is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, enclosing a roughly circular hollow or terrace approximately 3.5m across.
The circular feature is interpreted as the remains of a hut circle of Bronze Age date, one of two incorporated into the perimeter bank of an irregularly shaped hut circle settlement on the north-facing slopes of Shaugh Moor (MDV12779).
