An earthwork pit and associated mounds, probably remains of a prospecting pit of 18th to 19th century date, are visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014 on the east facing slopes of Fernhill Wood, Shaugh Prior, overlooking the combe of the Tony Brook.

The visible earthworks do not correspond with any features depicted on the Ordnance Survey 1880s First Edition map.

A pit and associated mounds are visible as earthworks.

A roughly oval earthwork pit is visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014 on the east facing slopes of Fernhill Wood, Shaugh Prior. The pit measures circa 20m by 28m. roughly circular mounds, possibly spoil mounds, are visible as earthworks on the south and south-east downslope sides of the pit.
The earthwork does not correspond with any pit depicted on the 19th or early 20th century maps available to the survey. The earthworks are interpreted as a prospecting pit of 18th to 19th century date.
